Record Setting Best of Panama!!!

Pamama Esmeralda has taken first place in every Best of Panama competition it has been in, and once again, this year is no different. Last years crop commanded $53 per pound green; this years first place offering went for $130 per pound. Yes One-Hundred-and- Thirty Dollars per pound green!

pa2007

Is this coffee worth it? In a word, yes.

You can see the final auction results here.

While there is a huge gap between this coffee and the others in the competition, the limited offering (just 500 pounds) and the brilliance in the cup created fierce competition for this remarkable coffee. We will all wait with giddy anticipation to see what the auction winners have planned for this years Panama Esmeralda.

Free pouring latte art is what we love to do at the caffe, and while regular milk work the best in creating latte art, we also do it with other types of dairy, and soy milk. Steaming soy milk can be tricky, but we're having fun with it. The art below is free poured with soy milk by Yiching.

Brazil Brauna Estate Peaberry

The Press Pot coffee we're featuring right now is the Brazil Brauna Estate Peaberry. The Peaberry is when the coffee cherry has one, rather than two, seeds inside. This usually produces a more intense and complex array of flavors. Having been roasted to enhance the varietal nuances, our Brazil Brauna Estate Peaberry is a complex mixture of semi-sweet and milk chocolate, orange, and smooth nutty Brazilian coffee flavors. Come try some!

Sweet and sublime

John says --

Our current press-pot offering is Costa Rica
--La Magnolia *Reserve*

This is a special selection that is sweet elegance in the cup. It smells of early Spring flowers with a touch of light citrus. In the cup it has a tangerine *zing* with a sprinkling of orange zest and a sweet/clean finish. This coffee would pair well with light Japanese fare containing a sweet and light ponzu.

funky cup

Yiching says--

We've noticed that some of our 24oz iced drink cups are mangled. The body of the cups are twisted or bent, and this usually happens to the cups at the end of the sleeves. There hasn't been that many of them, but every time I see one I laugh and use it any way.

I haven't been sealing these cups because they usually fit in the sealer machine funny, but today I finally gave it a try and guess what, the seals still fit on the cup perfectly!

Oh, and I had the Yogurt flavored bubble tea with chewy pearls in this cup by the way, and it was still really yummy in the funky cup.
